The first time you log in, CoAuthor greets you with a welcome message introducing the product and how it uses AI:

The message explains that AI-powered features are active in this product — you'll see the AI indicator on every screen where AI is in use — and that CoAuthor generates draft content to help you write and refine regulatory and clinical content.

You retain full editorial responsibility — please review all AI-generated drafts for accuracy before use in any regulatory submission.

The welcome message is non-blocking: it introduces CoAuthor without gating access. Select Acknowledge to dismiss it and continue to your Projects Page. You can revisit this information at any time from the About panel and follow Learn how CoAuthor uses AI for more detail.

The Certara.AI CoAuthor user interface is organized into two main areas, the sidebar and the workspace.

The sidebar includes icons to take you to different features that load in the workspace.

Each workspace serves as a gateway to access the various features available.

After logging into CoAuthor, you will be directed to your Projects Page. This page facilitates creating new documents, uploading and sorting sources, managing attributes, viewing document-specific prompts, and assigning user permissions.

The AI icon provides access to the Certara AI Application, where users can attach a collection of documents from different projects for summarization or interaction with the AI model. This workspace includes a prompt pane for questions to be asked and for interaction with the AI model. There is also a conversation pane which serves as a display of both prompts and responses.

The Template Icon leads to the Template Suite, which offers a variety of templates to help writers produce standardized documents in compliance with regulatory formatting standards.

The Prompt Library Icon leads to a collection of standard and specialized medical writing prompts available in the Prompt Library. These prompts are crafted to enhance the use of standardized generative AI, ensuring consistent, high-quality results. Additionally, a Sponsor Prompts tab permits the incorporation of custom prompts.

The User Roles Icon allows administrators to set permissions and restrictions, determining the actions a user can take within the system, such as user, creator, and system admin.
