When a Word document that contains CoAuthor content controls is opened in a different environment or project, the source files that prompts rely on may no longer be linked.
The Refresh Attachments action scans every prompt in the document.
If a prompt shows a red exclamation‑mark (broken source), the dialog looks for a project file with the exact same filename.
When a match is found, the source is automatically re‑attached, allowing the prompt to generate content again.
Refresh Attachments is intended as a convenience to streamline source re-attachment and is not a replacement for the forthcoming Copy/Export Project capabilities.
Log into CoAuthor.
Click on the Projects icon.
Click on your project name.
In the Documents tab, click on the document containing the broken sources.
Open the CoAuthor Word Add-In, any prompts (new or existing) that has a broken or missing source will be indicated by a red warning symbol next to the locate button.
Within the prompt, the broken attachment will be identified with a red warning symbol
You can open the Refresh Prompt Attachment dialog in two ways:
For all prompts at once — in the Prompts panel, click the Actions dropdown and select Refresh Attachments.
Note: Refresh Attachments only appears in the Actions dropdown when one or more prompts have broken sources.
If the Refresh Attachment finds a match it will auto-match the source
If no match was found
In cases where the Refresh Attachment was unable to find a matching source, you will be prompted to select a new source.
Click on Change button to select a new source
