Once you have organized your project with folders, you can move files and folders between locations in the Sources tab to keep your sources structured. There are two ways to move items: using the ellipsis menu for a single item or using the Selected dropdown to move multiple items at once.

Using the Ellipsis Menu

To move a single file or folder using the ellipsis menu, follow these steps:

  1. Log into CoAuthor.

  2. Open a Project.

  3. Click on the Sources tab.

  4. Locate the file or folder you would like to move.

  5. Click on the three‑dot () menu next to the item.

  6. Click Move.

  7. In the Move dialog, navigate to the destination:

    • Click on an existing folder where you’d like to place the item, or

    • Select Root to place the item at the top level of the Sources tab.

  8. Click Move to confirm.

  9. Done! All checked items are now relocated together.

Using the Selected Dropdown

To move multiple files or folders at the same time, follow these steps:

  1. Log into CoAuthor.

  2. Open a Project.

  3. Click on the Sources tab.

  4. Locate the file or folder you would like to move.

  5. Click the checkbox next to each file or folder you wish to move. You can select as many items as needed.

  6. Click on the Selected dropdown at the top of the list to reveal the available bulk actions.

  7. Click Move

  8. In the Move dialog, navigate to the destination:

    • Click on an existing folder to place the items inside it, or

    • Select Root to place the items at the top level of the Sources tab.

  9. Click Move to confirm
