How to Import Documents from Veeva

Written by Amy Chen

When enabled by your administrator, CoAuthor can pull approved or in-review content directly from Veeva Vault, giving you authoritative source material for AI-assisted drafting, structured content reuse, and traceable generation.

Note: Selecting a Veeva document as a source does not open or edit it in Vault. CoAuthor retrieves the text and structure from the document, tags it as a source, and uses it to ground drafting — the original Vault document is never modified through this flow.

Importing as a New Document

  1. Log in to CoAuthor.

  2. In the Project workspace, select the project you are working on.

  3. Click the Import from Veeva button.

  4. Use the Import from Veeva (Documents) module to search for the desired document.

  5. Check the boxes for the documents you want to import.

  6. Select the type of document type you want to import the document as.

  7. Select the version of the document you want to import.

  8. Click the Import button.

Importing a New Draft of an Existing Imported Document

  1. Log in to CoAuthor.

  2. In the Project workspace, select the project you are working on.

  3. In the Actions column, click the ... menu next to your document and select Refresh from Veeva.

Note: When you pull a document from Veeva Vault into CoAuthor, the system now double‑checks that the file you received is exactly the same as the one Vault says it sent. If anything is off, the import stops and you get a clear error message. This gives you a tamper‑proof record so you can be confident you’re never working on a corrupted or incomplete file.

  4. Click Refresh.

  5. The latest draft of the document will be loaded.

  6. In the Actions column, click the ... menu next to your document and select Details to view the drafts.
