File references are assigned states in order to lock them down or make them available for editing.
These elements can have the following user-selected states:
In Progress: The file reference can be edited.
Final: The file reference is under quality review or passed quality review and cannot be edited.
To change the file reference state, click on it and change its state in the State dropdown in the Details or Inventory grid.
Note: You do not have to have a section, Section (Node) Extension, or file reference reserved to change a file reference’s state. If someone else has the item reserved, you cannot change the state until they release their reservation. You cannot revise any element of a sequence that is no longer In Progress
