Although most organizations use an automated bookmark generator to create bookmarks for documents, there may be some cases when small modifications are required, or bookmarks are missed. To assist with this process, GlobalSubmit has created Bookmark specific options that are available in the Preview pane.

If bookmarks are needed in bulk, please see the “Bookmark Options” section to use LINK in Publish to automate the bookmark creation process.

Processing Documents

It’s important to note that documents need to be uploaded and fully processed prior to making bookmark modification. If the files are not processed, all work completed in GlobalSubmit will be overwritten when the file is uploaded.

Saving documents

Add the file to the correct location of the eCTD tree and click the Save button to commit the document to the Publish working folder

  • You can check the status by going to Tools > Status.

Click Refresh on the interface. You can now create, modify, and delete bookmarks on this file.

The following sections contain additional information:

Create Bookmarks

There are two different ways to create bookmarks. One available option is to highlight the text in the Preview pane and click Add. Publish captures the selected text automatically and makes the selected text the bookmark heading.

Another way to add a bookmark is to go to the destination in the document and click the Add or plus (+) button. Once completed, add a title to the bookmark. This will automatically set the destination of the bookmark.

Modify Bookmarks

Once a bookmark has been created, Publish allows for the modification of the bookmarks in regard to:

Hierarchy

If a bookmark has been created correctly, but needs to have a different parent section, the 4 arrow icons allow a user to modify where the bookmarks are placed within the TOC.

Destination

If a document is modified and the bookmarks is no longer pointing to the correct section of the document, select the bookmark to be modified. The Preview pane will update to show the incorrect location. Modify to show the new destination and use the pin icon to set the bookmark to this new location.

Bookmark Title

If a bookmark title is incorrect or is spelled incorrectly, right-click the heading and select Rename. The correct title can then be added to the bookmark.

Remove Bookmarks

Select the bookmark and choose the Remove option
