We’re excited to introduce a powerful new enhancement to CoAuthor: you can now reuse content from CoAuthor-generated Word documents—even when the text is wrapped in Word content controls. This means your AI-generated content is now fully accessible for future prompts, making it easier than ever to build on your work.
What This Feature Enables
With this update, CoAuthor can now read and reuse its own output from Word documents. If you’ve written a document using CoAuthor and want to use it as a reference in a new session, you can now do so—even if the content is wrapped in Word content controls (which CoAuthor uses to structure and protect generated text).
How to Use It
Follow these steps to reuse CoAuthor-generated content in a new session:
1. Open Your CoAuthor Document
Launch CoAuthor and open the document that contains content generated by CoAuthor.
Make sure the document includes content controls (these are special text containers used by CoAuthor).
2. Navigate to the Prompt Tab
In the CoAuthor interface, go to the Prompt tab.
This is where you’ll attach your source document for reference.
3. Attach the Source Document
Select the source document you opened in Step 1.
Attach it within the Prompt tab to make its content available for use.
4. Enable LLM Access to CoAuthor Text
Once attached, CoAuthor will automatically recognize and use the content control text from the source document.
This text becomes accessible to the language model (LLM) for generating responses or new content.
