How to Download, Share, and Upload Documents in CoAuthor

Efficient document management is key to productivity and collaboration. This guide will walk you through downloading a document from CoAuthor, sharing it with an external writer, and uploading the updated document back into CoAuthor.

This article assumes you have already created a document. If not, please follow the instructions in the article: How to Create a Blank Document.

Download

Follow the steps on how to download a document from CoAuthor to share with an external writer.

  1. Log in to CoAuthor

  2. In the Projects Workspace, click on a Project

  3. In the Documents tab, locate the document you wish to download and click on the three dots (ellipsis)

  4. In the Actions modal, click Download

  5. Once the document has been downloaded, send the document to external writers for review, requesting them to add any necessary changes or comments.

Import Updated Document

Follow these steps to add a document to CoAuthor that has been downloaded, shared, and updated by an external source outside of CoAuthor.

  1. Log in to CoAuthor

  2. In the Projects Workspace, click on a Project

  3. In the Documents tab, click on the three dots (ellipsis)

  4. In the Actions modal, click Details

  5. Upload the updated document or drag and drop the .docx file into the Drafts tab

    Drag and drop anywhere inside the dotted lines.


    The indicator appears to confirm that the document is being added.

    Once the document is successfully uploaded, it will be listed.

  6. Click on the three dots (ellipsis)

  7. In the Actions modal, click 'Make Default'

    The default checkbox will be visible for the selected document
